In my world there is no better combination than movies and popcorn. When I'm in the cinema it is almost physically impossible not to buy popcorn: o) I know that it is also what is the meaning of cinema, but I love them! However, I think rare that popcorn at home is the same experience (it would then just be like the householder hot dog roller and juniors birthday where we had rented a real popcorn machine!) Therefore, I instead want to try a different kind of popcorn at home, so the more a something for themselves than a disappointment hot dog roller compared to those in the cinema. The choice fell on popcorn with caramel and I are BIG fan - MUMS !!! O)
80g popcorn kernals 2 tblsp sunflower oil 40g butter 40g Whitworths LIGHT SOFT BROWN SUGAR 2 tblsp golden syrup - See more at: http://www.whitworths-sugar.co.uk/recipe/homemade-toffee-popcorn/#sthash.pLwApFHI .dpuf 75g popcorn kernels 2 tablespoons sunflower oil 40g butter 50g light muscavadosukker - or 25g brown sugar and 25g plain sugar 3 tablespoons hot dog roller light syrup Pour popcorn kernels and oil in a large saucepan. Shake it a little, then all the cores are covered with oil. Cover and pop popcorn at medium heat until there is two seconds between the kernels pop. Do not remove the lid of the pot, but only remove it from the heat and pour the popcorn in a large bowl. Put butter, sugar and syrup in a small saucepan and bring to the boil while stirring. Let cook thoroughly while stirring constantly, for a few minutes. Pour the popcorn back into the pan, pour the caramel above and mix well. Server either when they are touching, or behind them on the oven (to dry them out a little) at 100 degrees for 30-60 minutes. By baking them, I also believe that the caramel becomes more brittle.
